Hello, Mr. Lian Yue.
I am an English teacher who teaches study abroad exams at a training institute, mainly for students studying in the US. This is a very popular position because the number of students studying in the US is getting younger and younger. In addition to the high difficulty of the test, it was quite fulfilling to be in this business.
But since 2020, the market has changed. The epidemic has been going on for more than a year now, and the study abroad market has shrunk a lot. Many families no longer choose to send their children abroad, especially to the United States. For this reason, the company has introduced various policies, the essence of which is to do three times more work and not increase wages. The training industry has always attached importance to the teacher's "service to students", which used to be "standing service" and now is "lying down service". In order to maintain performance, think of various ways to "kneel students and parents". Colleagues have been very helpless, leaving, changing careers, patience to stay. I am the latter.
Some colleagues chose to switch to K12, because this market is very large, not affected by the epidemic. Some colleagues switched to online teaching on the Internet, taking the Netflix route. Some colleagues switched to teaching and research posts, no longer wanting to continue front-line teaching.
I tend to stay on. The main reason is that K12 content is simple and teaching is not fulfilling. The teaching and research post left the podium again, and I like teaching classes. Online master teachers look very attractive, and all kinds of major platforms burn money to create master teachers, but I don't have the temperament of Netflix. And I think online teaching can never replace face-to-face courses.
What does Mr. Lian Yue think? Is there still a market for studying in the US? Thank you!
Have fun!

Is there still a market for studying in the US? Your personal experience has proven that the market is turning and getting smaller.
Why was studying in the U.S. so hot and even under-aged before? Why can't you even stay in the U.S. or the U.K. or countries like Australia? That's because Chinese society in general still identifies with and envies the United States, and loves the house, along with the United States of America's little brother also love. Originally, this trend may continue for one or two generations, and studying in the United States is a good market in this time period. History, however, often does not follow the script, and the 2020 epidemic changed all that and brought the future forward.
The contrast between the epidemic prevention in China and the U.S. is such that normal people see China winning and the U.S. losing. The U.S. has also lost ugly, repeatedly dumping blame and sewage on China to deflect domestic conflict. The recent hateful attacks on Asians (mainly against the Chinese) are the inevitable result of the US governing elite's hatred of China. Americans, of course, still think of themselves as beacons of civilization, but unfortunately normal Chinese people don't eat that anymore. After the last year, they feel that civilization is just a pretty word in the mouth of the Americans, in action, they are barbaric, the only one, competition has won, then use the market logic, competition is not, then use the robber logic, hard robbery. Their system and elite, even their own people, like pigs and dogs, they will come to care about the Chinese? And the rest of the world? In the face of this harsh truth, do you think there is still a market for studying in America? Do the Chinese still feel comfortable sending their younger children to the United States? Send them to learn things that Americans themselves don't believe in? Will they be discriminated against? To be scolded and beaten?
China and the U.S. must still cooperate and not become hostile countries (if the U.S. is foolish enough to intervene in a possible conflict in the Taiwan Strait, that's a different story). China's attitude is set out, the United States whether individuals, companies, or government, as long as sincere people, China is a good partner for win-win cooperation; if you want to pose as a teacher, to be a robber, eat alone, rob the fruits of Chinese labor, then "the Chinese do not eat this set", you cool off on your own. For a long time to come, the United States still wants to be a bandit, used to rob, not so easy to change, and there is a lot of friction. Under this big trend and background, the market of studying in the US will only become smaller. You can't win the trend if you work harder personally.
Not long ago, the national leaders had a sentence: "After 70, after 80, after 90, after 00, before they go out to see the world, China can already look at the world, not like we were so 'earthy' back then ......" This is not a casual sentence, it is a conclusion, set the tone, China will start to look at the world, this to look at the world, of course, the original high in the United States and some countries in the West, this is the biggest trend, a Chinese people's life choice, career choice, along with this trend of prosperity, against this trend of decline.
Have fun.
Lian Yue
